Twitter and The Vista Voice

Welcome to the improved Vista Voice (VV); what does this mean exactly? Well, the VV now features Twitter.
What is Twitter?
Twitter is a social networking application to keep family, friends, and just about any one registered, connected - much like an instant messaging service. Every message you send is a tweet. Those in your network that are following your every move receive your tweets. Now, you can't tweet a novel because tweets are limited to 140 characters. This limit allows for just enough information for a quick update to followers.
How do you sign up on Twitter?
Go to www.twitter.com and sign up for a free account. Twitter is almost like Facebook, but without all the extra needless feeds. Also, you don't need anybody's permission to follow users on Twitter.
Why is VV incorporating Twitter?
Twitter is offering the VV with another avenue for news gathering. We not only want to hear what you have to tweet, but the VV can gather tweets about news breaking events like over Haiti. We are using mobile technology, not only to build a community, but to gather and distribute news. The VV will feature a Twitter stream on the front page. Currently, the VV is displaying all tweets associated with the earthquake in Haiti. If you register for a Twitter account, you can also follow the VV on Twitter.
Site Directors Victor Landa and Isaac Hinojosa incorporated Twitter as a means to make the VV website a more interactive design. Their wish is to get more students involved with the VV and to get more students to participate and interact with the VV website.
Remember, anyone can join in on the fun through Twitter. Yes, anyone can join; it's free. If you think something is worthy of news on campus, join Twitter and follow the VV on Twitter. Have fun!
