Mother Earth is Weeping

Mother Earth is Weeping
Mother Earth weeps
a tsunami size tear
hurricanes and floods sweep
2005 was wet with death
and disaster from
winds and currents ran faster
engulfing towns and drenching cities
creating homeless orphans unsure
and afraid, wandering in shock
searching for elusive aid
One organization steals from another
in the name of those
who have lost their brothers
Mother Earth crys
tears that flood the streets
thank God for the people
whose compassion is free
they are the heroes and our saving
grace in the midst of tragedy
they gave us faith
even though the government took
from them in the name of the poor
it hasn't stopped them
from giving us more
Mother Earth sweeps
and soon her tears will reach
white house doors
and drown the evil
that enslaves and drowns
the poor
